B, Eddie and I went for a lovely Sunday walk on my favorite dyke. While the sun wasn’t shining and it was pretty windy the air was fresh and it was invigorating. We ended the walk with a visit to the “off leash,” section of the walk. Not that Eddie was every on his leash. Within a few minutes he had made some instant friends. They ran, they played, they drank from the river and it was like they had always known each other.
I began wondering what characteristics does Eddie look for in other dogs that make them desirable temporary companions. Is it a smell, their energy? He seems to know it immediately. While he is a friendly dog and will go up to anyone big or small he is definitely more welcoming to certain dogs. Maybe he has a type, he is always partial to standard poodles for some reason.
Who knows if Eddie will see his friends again, but if not I am sure there will be some new ones the next time we visit the park!
